One of the final projects produced for the Udacity Android Basic Nanodegree.

Android Basics: Multi-Screen Apps

Project Overview

The goal of this multi-screen Android is to create a tour guide app which presents relevant information to a user who’s visiting my home town, Turin in Italy. The app lists top attractions, restaurants, museums and bars. It contains all the best known places loved by the locals.

Skills Applied

• Planning the app design and navigation.
• Selecting proper data structures to store lists of information in this case ListViews.
• Building layouts to display those lists of data.
• Navigating between those lists using multiple Activities and relevant fragments (Sights, Museums, Fodd, Bars) and a ViewPager to navigate across them.
• Creating custom classes: Bars, Food, Sights and Museums.
• Handling images and explicit intents to web links and google maps.
• This project is developed in pure Java language.

Specifications

• User Navigates between lists using a ViewPager.
• App contains a custom object for storing location information.
• App uses a custom adapter to populate the layout with views based on instances of the custom class.
• All strings are stored in the strings.xml resource file.
• All images are stored as drawables.
• All drawables are stored at multiple densities.
